Bandits Abduct Pregnant Woman, Nursing Mother and Baby in Kaduna

 Bandits have abducted a pregnant woman, a nursing mother and her seven-month-old baby, alongside five other people, in separate attacks on two communities in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incidents reportedly occurred on Monday in Kaso Rimi and Kaso Kurmi communities, both located in Kakau Ward.

The development was disclosed by the Chikun LGA Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Coordinator, Comrade Adams Sule, who spoke to LEADERSHIP on Tuesday.

According to Sule, five people were kidnapped from farms in Kaso Kurmi around noon while they were working.

He explained that seven people were initially attacked, but two managed to escape while the attackers abducted the remaining five.

Sule added that two women were later taken from a residence in Kaso Rimi at about 10pm. Other people in the house reportedly fled after noticing the presence of the attackers, but the two women were unable to escape.

He said one of the abducted women was a nursing mother, and her seven-month-old baby was taken along with her.

A resident of Kaso Rimi, Ishaya Ganai, who confirmed the incident, said one of the women was heavily pregnant and expected to give birth this month.

G​anai said the attacks had renewed fears among residents who had previously fled the area due to repeated insecurity.

He explained that some residents returned earlier this year to resume farming after the security situation appeared to improve, as farming remained their major source of livelihood.

However, he noted that some houses in the community had collapsed after being abandoned by residents who fled during previous attacks.

Residents have appealed to the Kaduna State Government, security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently intensify security operations in the affected communities and secure the release of the abducted victims.

Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as its Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, reportedly did not respond to several phone calls.
