Nigerians are facing renewed economic pressure following another increase in the price of petrol across different filling stations.
According to a report by Vanguard, the price of petrol has risen at major retail outlets, with some stations selling the product for as much as ₦1,400 per litre.
Reports indicate that petrol prices at MRS stations increased from ₦1,300 to ₦1,400 per litre, while prices at some NNPC stations reportedly moved from ₦1,275 to ₦1,375 per litre.
The latest increase is expected to further affect transportation fares, food prices, logistics, and the operating costs of businesses that depend on fuel for generators and movement of goods.
For many Nigerians, the development comes at a time when households are already struggling with rising costs of essential commodities and reduced purchasing power.
Traders and transport operators may also be forced to adjust their prices to accommodate the increased cost of fuel, potentially placing additional pressure on consumers.
The continuous rise in petrol prices has continued to raise concerns about the impact on the cost of living and the ability of ordinary Nigerians to cope with daily expenses.
