A fire outbreak at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Kano State, has destroyed property estimated at ₦20 million.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kano State Command, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
According to the statement, the emergency was reported at about 11:38 a.m. after university security personnel alerted the Commander of the Nigeria Police Academy through the Police Academy Fire Station.
The FFS said its team, led by ASF II Nura Haladu, quickly mobilised to the university, where firefighters discovered files and other materials burning inside an office at the Department of Architecture.
Working alongside officers of the Kano State Fire Service, the firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control using two medium jets of water.
The Service stated that property estimated at ₦700 million was involved in the incident, while assets worth approximately ₦680 million were successfully salvaged.
However, property valued at about ₦20 million was destroyed.
A preliminary assessment suggested that the fire may have been caused by damaged electrical wiring. The FFS, however, said a full investigation had been ordered to determine the actual cause of the incident.
The State Controller of the FFS Kano Command, DCF Sadiq Usman Mahmud, praised the firefighters and the Kano State Fire Service for their prompt response and cooperation.
He advised institutions and members of the public to regularly inspect electrical installations and promptly replace damaged or faulty wiring to reduce the risk of fire outbreaks.
